Visual Art Workshops for Children

 

Ages:    7 years and older

 

These workshops are organized by Auburn University Professor Chichi Lovett.  A variety of age appropriate classes will be taught by area artists and art educators.  The first two sessions will focus on bilingual (English/Spanish) workshops.  Some projects may be repeated throughout the summer with variations in accordance with sound educational pedagogy.  We are an ART workshop with emphasis on the process of creating art, elements of art, experience using a variety of age appropriate materials and art appreciation.  An exhibition of the children’s artwork is held at the end of each session.  Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.   Registration will begin on May 2nd.  For more information, please contact the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center at 501-2963.

Fee:    $60.00 per week per child / $50.00 for each additional child, price includes materials and snack / Payable to the Auburn Arts Association

Art for Young Children

 

Ages:    4 - 6 years

Young Artist Atelier

 

Ages:    12 – 15 years

 

This program will offer studio and museum experiences to young artists.  This program is a collaborative art program provided by the City of Auburn/Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, the Auburn Arts Association and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art.  Experiences at the museum may include but are not limited to age appropriate lectures, videos, slides, gallery talks and art activities utilizing the museum collection.  Studio experiences will be held at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center and will be taught by Auburn University Professors, local artists and art educators.  Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.  Payment is required at the time of registration.  Registration will begin on May 2nd. Musical Theatre Camp

 

Ages:    8 – 12 years

 

Young actors will learn music, staging, choreography for several Broadway numbers and then have opportunities to show off what they have learned at the end of the week.

              July 18 - July 22

              Performance will be held July 23 at 10 am and 11:15 am

Musical Theatre Camp for Teens

 

Ages:    13 – 18 years

 

Campers of all skill levels will improve theater-related skills in voice, dance, and acting while meeting new friends and having fun! There will be a performance at the end of the week for family and friends. Camp fills up fast, so please register early.  For more information please contact the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center at 501-2963.
